This is situated through a narrow goat trek, to the pass at an elevation of 4,265 Mts. ASL is the heart of Chamoli District, on the northeastern front. It offers a glorious view of the stately eastern peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas, full of charm and grandeur, wearing their white, glossy caps.
The peaks visible from Kauri Pass are Nanda Devi, Dunagiri, Bethartoli, Devsthan etc. If weather permits, the Nanda Devi Sanctuary is also visible. The trek trails are scenic, especially around Ramni. Lord Curzon had trekked upto Kauri Pass, and so the road is known as 'Curzon Road'.
