Nag Tibba is on the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas, northeast of Mussoorie. The peak is situated at a height of 3,048 Mts. ASL. On the top of this peak, local villagers come here to offer their puja (prayers) to Nag Devta (snake God) for the protection of their cattle. The trek starts from Dhanaulti on a forest track and leads to Morina Dhar. This place is situated on a saddle, and sunrise from behind the mountains, is a beautiful sight to watch from here. From Morina Dhar the trek is on a ridge, most of the time parallel to the Garhwal Himalayas, from Swarg Rohini to the Nanda Devi ranges. This part of the trek is very rich in flora and fauna. Only a few villages come enroute and even those are abandoned during the winter months. From Nag Tibba to Nainbagh is a downhill trek to the picturesque village of Panthwari, gay with life and presenting the culture of Jaunpur. |
