Auli ascends from 2,519 Mts. to 3,049 Mts. in height and covers a stretch
of 6 kms. Auli is known as 'Bugyal' in the regional language. In the winter when the mountains are covered with snow, the chair lift carries skiers to the top of the slope, Auli is alive with open ski activities. During summer the slopes of Auli are covered with wild flowers, the alpine grass is rich with fragrant meadows. It is a pleasurable sensation to bask in the sun, gazing up at the sky. The views of the surrounding mountains are superb.

In Auli you can also enjoy a ride in a cable car riding the dancing dragon of the wind. It covers a stretch of 3.96 kms, ascends from 1,100 Mts. to 3,016 Mts. and offers all the thrills of silent hot air balloon trip with none of its imagined dangers. Looking out of the cable car you can view the feathery cirrus build into menacing storm clouds, closing in on the mountains. A tiny patch of sunlight shrinks in the gathering gloom.
Auli is no doubt a place to unwind yourself for few glorious days under the silkscreen mountains. The air is redolent with tte heavy resinous fragrance of cedar. The natural scenery of Auli is very beautiful.
Auli also plays host to the different winter festivals and already 3 official National Skiing Championships have been held here.
Auli offers a panoramic view of Himalayan peaks like the Nanda Devi (7817 Mts.), Kamet (7756 Mts.), Mana Parvat (7273 Mts.), and Dunagiri (7066 Mts.) seemingly only a snowball's throw away. Auli is not only a ski resort but also a very beautiful and scenic place to visit. Any visit to Garhwal is incomplete without a visit to Auli.
