The valley of flowers is said to be one of the most picturesque valleys in
the world. It is commonly known as the
'Garden of gods'. It is a perfect mixture of all the beautiful charms of nature. Valley of
flowers has been described as Heaven on Earth by many. There are endless numbers of
flowers in this valley, which look like a multicolored carpet on Earth's breast. The river
Pushpawati flowing nearby and the massive Rataban peak form the perfect backdrop for the
valley of flowers. This valley was discovered by chance by Frank S. Smythe in 1931 when he
was on an expedition to Mount Kamet. The Valley of Flowers is situated between Joshimath
and Badrinath at a distance of 18 km from Joshimath.
