Situated in the northwestern hills of Uttarakhand are the five districts of Dehra Dun,   Pauri,  Tehri, Uttarkashi and Chamoli, which make up Garhwal. Archeologists suggest that this region was the cradle of a great civilization in ancient times. The mountains of Garhwal are of great religious significance to Indians. The holy shrines of Sri Badrinath, Sri Kedarnath Gangotri and Yamunotri - collectively known as the Char Dham, have attracted pilgrims throughout history.

Garhwal spells magic whichever way you look at her, that is besides being "Dev Bhumi", abode of Gods. Rishikesh and Kotdwar, both form gateways to Garhwal.
