Neelkanth Mahadev is quaint spot abounds in
religious fervour, mythological significance and picturesque surroundings. According to
legends this place has derived its name from Lord Shiva. It is believed that it was here
that Lord Shiva consumed the venom, which came out during the "Samundra
Manthan". Due to this his throat become blue in color which in Hindi means
'NEELKANTH' hence this place is famous as Neelkanth Mahadev. Here centuries old temples
reserve in their fold the celestial aura and the legendary ambience you are looking for.
At 926 Mts. amidst three valleys (Vishnukoot, Brahmakoot and Manikoot) and on the
confluence of Madhmati and Pankaja rivers awaits Neelkanth Mahadev. Neelkanth Mahadev is
12 Kms. from Swargashram. Excursions around Neelkanth Mahadev: Siddhon Ka Kot: 1.5 Kms. from the temple, on the Manikoot peak nestle Siddhon Ka Kot. Legend says, in ancient times, it was here that sages used to meditate. Today they are invisible but this place still bears their unmistakable spiritual aura. Sukhvasani Devi: It is believed that in times of drought, prayers here can bring in rain. Pataal Koop: According to legend demons used to go to hell through this place. Pataal Koop is situated on the peak of Vishnukoot Mountain. Sidh Baba: Shrine of Sidh Baba. It's flag is changed once a year. Chamunda Devi: It is said that offering here leads to self attainment.
