Rishikesh, commonly known as the "Place of Sages", is an ideal
destination not Rishikesh is the spiritual heaven of the various Ashrams and is situated on the eastern side of the Holy Ganga, at Swarg Ashram. The Ashrams provide lectures and courses to fulfil everyone's needs and Quench the thirst of Knowledge and peace. Rishikesh is very
important from the religious point of view, the " Kailash Temple"(which is the
13-storey temple situated here near the ' Laxman Jhoola'.' Laxman Jhoola' and the ' Ram
Jhoola' are the major attractions for the pilgrims visiting Rishikesh. These are the
bridges, which are suspended over the River Ganga without any support and because of which
they keep swaying. This is why the name ' Jhoola' has been given to these bridges.
Rishikesh is also the place for the adventurous visitors. Rishikesh is the starting point
for the trekking expeditions and the excursions towards the Himalayan peaks. White water
rafting and river rafting are also very popular here. Rishikesh also hosts the
International Yoga Week, which is held here every year from 2nd to 7th
February. Rishikesh has been called the Gateway to the Kingdom of Gods since it is the starting point for all the pilgrimages in this region. |
