Manali, popularly known as the "Queen of Hills ", is a beautiful spot in the midst of Pine trees, with high mountains towering above it. Manali was the preferred resting-place of Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru, where he chose to relax. He came in 1958 and stayed a month and then again in 1960. Afterwards, his daughter, Indira Gandhi, followed her father and chose the same spot for a short holiday.

Manali, known for its picturesque surroundings, is a magnificent spot with high mountains towering above it. Manali can be made the headquarters of a mountain holiday, with hikes, climbs & picnics punctuated with sun bathing and fishing etc.

The clubhouse is a hub of tourists and is the newest landmark situated around 1.5-km from Tourist Bureau, and provides comfort and luxury by courteous staff.

Temple of Hadimba Devi (The Supreme Sacrifice)

The temple of Hadimba devi is a lovely temple which stands as a mute tribute to the supreme artist who sacrificed the very hand with which he carved this poem in wood dedicated to the goddess of the Dhoongri temple- Hadimba Devi, wife of Bhim- one of the Pandavas. Every year in the month of May, there is a major festival here. This temple is approachable by a footpath close to Hotel Manaslu and it is almost 1km from Manali.

Vashisht Hot Sulphur Spring

About 3.2 km away from Manali bus stand across the Beas river situated at an altitude of 1982 m (6200 ft), just down below the temple are hot Sulphur Springs named as Vashisht. Nearby is a pyramidal stone temple dedicated to Vashistha.

The Mountaineering Institute

This institute is situated in Manali and provides training facilities for basic and advance climbing. It also conducts adventure sport activities.

Nehru Kund

Nehru Kund is 6 km from Manali on Manali—Keylong road. Arjun Gufa is near the village of Prini, 5 km from Manali. This place is famous for its clear water spring, which is named after the late Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru.

Kothi

Kothi is situated 12 km away from Manali town, on the Lahaul-Spiti-Leh highway. It is a quiet but fascinating spot at the foot of Rohtang pass.

Rohtang Pass

Rohtang pass is a gateway to Lahaul Valley. It is situated about 51 km from Manali at an altitude of 3978 m (13400 ft), on the highway of Keylong. Regular bus services are available. There is a beautiful Dashohar lake, left of the pass. The pass is open from June to September each year.

Rahalla Falls

The most enchanting Rohalla Fall is at an altitude of 2501 meters (8500 ft), and is about 4 km away from Kothi and 16 km away from Manali.

Solang Valley

This place is about 13 km from Manali and is a splendid valley between Manali and Kothi. It offers the views of glaciers and snow capped mountain peaks.

Beas Kund

The famous Beas Kund is a place where great Vyas Rishi performed "Tapa" during Mahabharata Kal. It is the source of the river Beas.

Jagatsukh

It is on the left bank of river Beas and known to be the biggest village of Kullu district. Jagatsukh is 12 km from Naggar and 6 km from Manali. The place is famous for very old temples particularly Shiva temple, Devi Sharvali temple etc.

Bhuntar is the nearest airport at a distance of about 50 km from Manali and 10 km beyond Kullu. Vayudoot operates daily flights from Delhi to Kullu via Chandigarh. Tickets are available from Ambassador Travels (P) Ltd. Main Bazaar, Manali

 By Road

Manali is almost 40 km away from Kullu. Himachal Tourism operates buses from New Delhi.

By Rail
