Kausani

Kausani is a tourist's paradise, situated in the middle Himalayas near Almora. Surrounded by thick, dense coniferous forests, this place gives a panoramic view of the mighty Himalayas in all its grandeur. From here, one can also get a spectacular view of the snow-clad peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Panchchuli, Nandakot, and Chaukhamba.

This place is also famous for being the birthplace of the renowned Hindi poet- Sumitra Nandan Pant. The Anashakti Ashram, where Gandhiji lived and wrote Anashakti Yoga, is also located here.

Kausani is frequented by thousands of tourist every year, who come here to enjoy its pleasant climate and natural beauty. This enchanting mountain retreat has a lot to offer to the tourists- ranging from sports, pilgrims spots, sightseeing, to complete relaxation.

Uttarayani Fair This fair is organized on the occasion of Makar Sankranti (January 14th) every year. The fair attracts huge crowds of devotees, as this place has been held to be as pious as a holy dip in the Ganga at Varanasi. The confluence of rivers Saryu, Gomati and Bhagirathi have been regarded as a sacred place of pilgrimage for ages. On the occasion of Uttarayani festival approximately 35,000 devout Hindus bathe in this holy confluence.
Shivaratri Fair This fair is held on the occasion of Shiva Chaturdashi.
Kartik Purnima This fair is held on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Kartik.
Dussehra Fair A 10-day long fair is held during  Dussehra.
