Askot Musk Deer Sanctuary

Set up to save the Musk Deer, this sanctuary has developed into a major Wildlife Conservation Park in recent years. The Ascot Musk Deer sanctuary is located in the higher Himalayas in the Pithoragarh District.

This Sanctuary is home to many other animals like the Snow Leopard, Jungle Cat, Musk Deer, Black bear, Bharal, Tahr, Snow Coke, Monal, Koklas, Chir, Chukor, Civet Cat, Brown Bear, Barking Deer are the main attractions of the sanctuary.

In this sanctuary, one can also find many beautiful and rare species of high altitude birds. Spread over an area of 284 sq. kms. This sanctuary is dressed up with running water of glaciers, ridges, beautiful valleys and green pastures.

Winter season is not ideal to visit the sanctuary since it is covered with snow at this time of the year. Summer and spring seasons are ideal for visiting the sanctuary as the flora and faunas are in full bloom around this time.
