The great Himalayas are regarded as a holy and spiritual land, since from an ancient time. All of the gods and goddess are said to be residing here, that’s why it is called "The Heaven on Earth". It is the primary source of the vast Indian culture. No other place on earth has such spiritual significance and nature beauty.

Kumaon hills lies on the great Himalayan region and in the abode of gods. It is the place where nature has spread  all its natural beauty and holy grace. Gods or Devta are the deities who are adored and worshipped in this region.

Lord Shiva is mainly worshipped in the Kumaon hills. His wives Shakti, Parvati and Uma is believed to be the daughter of the Himalaya. There are thousands of temples in Kumaon region, which are devoted to Lord Shiva and Shakti. Other Gods are worshipped in Kumaon, namely Durga, Vishnu, Ganesh, Sarswati and Brahma.

Kumaon has another significance, that the route to the holy abode of Lord Shiva at Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet runs through here. There are many such temples in Kumaon, which can be visited. One can visit these temples throughout the year.
As the temples are regarded as holy and religious in the region, few small things should be  observed while visiting holy sites: Such as while entering the temple one should remove their shoes and slippers outside. One should respect the rituals of the place or the temple. While visiting the religious sites one should abstain from alcohol and non- vegetarian diets.
