Hazaribagh
Located in the Hazaribagh district of Bihar, an area of 186 sq. km was notified as a National Park in 1954. The park name is a paradox because while it signifies the park as an abode of tigers, there are hardly any tigers.

The vegetation is tropical dry deciduous type. Sal grows in abundance. The park supports a rich wildlife. Tiger (rarely sighted), Leopard, Chital, Wild cat, Wild pig, Nilgai etc., are some of its residents. The avian population is also a source of attraction for bird lovers.

The Patna-Ranchi highway runs through the park, providing the highway users with a glimpse of the wildlife. However, the highway causes disturbance to the animals residing in the park.

The best time to visit the park is from Oct. - April. It is advisable to book accommodation in advance as it is limited. The nearest town is Hazaribagh (20km).
