SinghalilaThe Singhalila National Park is located in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal .The park is spread over an area of 790 sq.kms. while the north-western corner of the state shares its borders with Sikkim and Nepal. It lies at an altitude of 2290-3650m. The climate at the park can be classified as temperate. During the monsoons, the park receives heavy rainfall.The vegetation here is varied .It is a delightful mix of sub tropical wet hill forest, wet temperate forest, Himalayan moist and tropical moist. In fact it is a 'Botanists Paradise'.A variety of bird species have been sighted here. Among the wildlife which resides here, are the Serow, Wild Boar, Barking Deer, Mountain Goat, Goral, Assamese Macaque, Leopard, Leopard cat and the Brown Bear. The ideal time to visit the park is from NOV. to MARCH. The park offers limited accommodation. Therefore it is advisable to make advance booking with the park authorities at Darjeeling. |

Neora ValleyThe NEORA VALLEY NATIONAL PARK is spread over an area of 88sq.km. in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. The park lies in the Himalayan foothills and is bordered on the east by Western Bhutan. Within the park, the
altitude ranges between 3048-3200m.The vegetation can be classified as Himalayan moist
temperate type. There is Sal and Hollock forest in the park .The climate can be classified
as sub-tropical. This park is home to the Himalayan Field Mouse, Musk Deer, Barking Deer, Porcupine, Chestnut Rat, Wild Pig, Leopard Cat, Serow, Assamese Macaque, Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan Weasel, Black Bear, Goral, Shrew, Brown Bear, Red Fox, Himalayan Palm Civet etc. The ideal period to visit the park is during DEC.- FEB.
